How to use the Bandwidth Calculator

  1. Enter the Data Size and its unit, and the Speed with its unit.
  2. Press Solve Transfer Time.

Formula and method

Time = size in bits ÷ speed in bits per second. 1 byte = 8 bits.

Worked example

1 GB (8,000 megabits) at 100 Mbps takes 80 seconds.

Tips

  • Real speeds are usually lower than the advertised speed because of overhead.
