About the Calculus Calculator

Calculate the derivative of a function at a point or a definite integral between two limits.

How to use the Calculus Calculator

  1. Enter the Function f(x), for example x^2 + sin(x).
  2. Choose an Operation: Derivative f'(x) or Definite Integral ∫ f(x)dx.
  3. For a derivative enter At x =; for an integral enter the Lower Bound (a) and Upper Bound (b). Then press Calculate.

Formula and method

The derivative is the slope of the function at a point. The definite integral is the signed area under the curve between a and b. Values are computed numerically.

Worked example

The derivative of x² at x = 3 is 6. The integral of x² from 0 to 3 is 9.

Tips

  • Use ^ for powers and sin, cos, exp and log for functions.
  • Numerical results are approximate for complicated functions.

Frequently asked questions

What does an integral represent?
The accumulated quantity, or the area under the graph, between two points.
