About the Cryptography Calculator

Encode and hash text with common tools: Base64, ROT13 and SHA-256, all in your browser.

How to use the Cryptography Calculator

  1. Type or paste your text into Target Data.
  2. Press Base64 Encode, Base64 Decode, ROT13 Cipher or SHA-256 Hash.
  3. Use Copy to Clipboard to copy the result.

Formula and method

Base64 represents data using 64 printable characters. ROT13 shifts each letter 13 places. SHA-256 is a one-way hash function that produces a 256-bit fingerprint.

Tips

  • Base64 and ROT13 are encodings, not encryption. They provide no security.
  • SHA-256 cannot be reversed; use it to check integrity, not to hide data.

Frequently asked questions

Is ROT13 secure?
No. It is trivially reversible and is used only to hide spoilers or puzzles.
