Formula and method
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits
| Grade | Points |
|---|---|
| A / A+ | 4.0 |
| A- | 3.7 |
| B+ | 3.3 |
| B | 3.0 |
| B- | 2.7 |
| C+ | 2.3 |
| C | 2.0 |
| C- | 1.7 |
| D+ | 1.3 |
| D | 1.0 |
| F | 0.0 |
Worked example
An A in a 3-credit course, a B+ in a 4-credit course and a B in a 3-credit course: (4.0 × 3 + 3.3 × 4 + 3.0 × 3) ÷ 10 = 34.2 ÷ 10 = 3.42.
Weighted by credits. An A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course give (4.0 × 3 + 3.0 × 4) ÷ 7 = 3.43.

Tips

- Higher-credit courses affect your GPA more.
