Smart capitalization for perfect sentence structure

Input Text

Sentence case is how normal prose is written: a capital letter to open each sentence and lowercase for the rest, with names keeping their capitals where you type them. This converter applies that form to any text, taming pasted ALL-CAPS blocks and standardising messy drafts in one pass.

How to use this tool

  • Paste the text.
  • Convert to sentence case.
  • Copy the calm, readable result.

The default voice of prose

Headlines argue about Title Case and SHOUTING, but the body of nearly everything you read (articles, emails, contracts) runs on sentence case because it is the easiest form to read at length: the capitals become signals, marking where thoughts begin and which words are names, instead of noise spread evenly over every word.

Frequently asked questions

Will it capitalise names in the middle of sentences?
The converter capitalises after sentence-ending punctuation and lowercases the rest; a name typed lowercase mid-sentence may need a manual touch-up, so give the result a quick scan.
What counts as a sentence end?
Full stops, question marks and exclamation marks followed by a space, which covers ordinary prose; abbreviations with periods can occasionally trigger a capital, another reason for a quick proofread.
Is sentence case the same as lowercase?
Almost, except sentence case restores the capital at each sentence's start, which is the difference between stylised minimalism and actual prose.
