Text to Upside Down

Flip your text vertically using special Unicode characters

Turn your text upside down: each letter replaced by its rotated Unicode twin and the whole string reversed, so it reads perfectly when the screen (or the reader's head) flips 180 degrees. Type, flip, and paste it into posts and profiles that deserve a double-take.

How to use this tool

  • Type or paste the text.
  • Flip it upside down.
  • Copy and paste the flipped text anywhere.

Typography's party trick, with real Unicode plumbing

Upside-down text works because Unicode happens to contain look-alike characters (ɐ for a, ɔ for c, ʇ for t) borrowed from phonetics and other alphabets. Stitching them in reverse order builds the illusion of rotation. It is not a font, the flipped characters are real text, which is why they survive copy-paste across apps intact, no images involved.

Frequently asked questions

Can upside-down text be converted back?
Yes, the Upside Down to Text converter in this category flips it back to normal.
Why do some letters look imperfect?
A few letters have no convincing rotated twin in Unicode, so the closest match stands in; short texts and common letters look the most seamless.
Will it work on all platforms?
Anywhere Unicode text displays (social apps, chats, profiles) it renders; very old systems with limited fonts may show boxes for the rarest characters.
