Set a price too low and you can sell all day and still lose money. This calculator shows the sales volume at which your price starts paying for itself, so pricing decisions rest on numbers instead of hope.

How to use this calculator

  • Add up the fixed costs you pay even if you sell nothing.
  • Enter what one unit costs you to produce or deliver.
  • Enter the price you plan to charge.
  • Press calculate: the result is the number of units you must sell to break even.

Try more than one price

Run the calculator at two or three candidate prices. A lower price needs much higher volume; a higher price needs fewer sales but may shrink demand. Seeing the volumes side by side makes the trade-off concrete before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a break-even point calculator?
It is the same core formula. This version is framed for pricing checks: testing whether a chosen price covers costs at a realistic volume.
What if I sell services, not products?
Treat one job or one billable hour as the unit. Your variable cost is the direct cost of delivering that job.
Should taxes be included?
Work with prices and costs on the same basis — both including tax or both excluding it — so the comparison stays consistent.
