Income tax is easier to plan when the number stops being a surprise in filing season. This calculator estimates the tax on your income using the slabs and deductions you enter, then shows the two figures that matter: the tax due and the effective rate you actually pay.

How to use this calculator

  • Enter your gross yearly income.
  • Add deductions and allowances you qualify for.
  • Select or enter the tax slabs that apply to you.
  • Press calculate to see taxable income, total tax and take-home pay.

Marginal rate vs effective rate

Each slab taxes only the income inside it, so your top rate (marginal rate) is always higher than your overall rate (effective rate). Earning into the next slab never makes you worse off overall β€” it only taxes the extra slice at the higher rate.

Frequently asked questions

What is taxable income?
Gross income minus deductions, allowances and exemptions the rules allow. Tax is charged on this reduced figure, not on the full salary.
Why does my payslip deduction differ from this estimate?
Employers withhold using standard assumptions during the year; your final liability depends on your actual deductions and other income, settled when you file.
Does this replace filing or advice?
No. It is a planning estimate. Rates and rules change yearly and differ by country, so confirm real filings with official guidance or a tax professional.
