How to use the Mileage Calculator

  1. Enter the Distance (miles), Fuel Efficiency (MPG) and Price per Gallon ($).
  2. Press Calculate Trip Cost.

Formula and method

Gallons = distance ÷ mpg. Cost = gallons × price per gallon.

Worked example

250 miles at 30 mpg uses 8.33 gallons and costs $29.17 at $3.50 a gallon.

Tips

  • Highway mpg is usually higher than city mpg.
