A pension turns working years into retirement income, but the conversion is not obvious while you are still paying in. This calculator estimates what your contributions and years of service could produce, so the gap between "what is coming" and "what I need" shows up early.

How to use this calculator

  • Enter your current salary and years of service (or years of contributions).
  • Add your contribution rate and expected growth, if asked.
  • Press calculate to see the estimated pension pot and yearly income.

The gap is the useful number

Most people discover a gap between the estimated income and the life they pictured. That is not bad news; found at 35 it is a small monthly fix, while found at 60 it is a crisis. Treat the first result as the start of the plan, not the verdict.

Frequently asked questions

How much pension do I need?
A common guide is replacing about 60 to 70% of working income, less if the mortgage is gone and work costs disappear. Your own spending plan is the real answer.
What is the difference between a pension pot and pension income?
The pot is the total saved. The income is what it can pay yearly, which depends on annuity rates, drawdown choices and how long it must last.
Do state pensions count?
Yes, add any state or employer pension income on top of the pot-based figure for the full picture. Rules and amounts vary by country.
