About the Property Tax calculator

How to use the Property Tax calculator

  1. Enter the Assessed Value and the Assessment Ratio (%) used by your county.

Worked example

An effective rate. A home assessed at 250,000 with a tax rate of 1.2% pays 250,000 × 0.012 = 3,000 a year, or 250 a month.

When to use the Property Tax calculator

  • Budgeting for the yearly property tax on a home you plan to buy.
  • Comparing the tax burden in different areas.
  • Checking a tax bill against the assessed value.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using the sale price when the tax is based on the assessed value.
  • Forgetting exemptions and reductions, which can lower the bill.

Tips
