Measure Return on Investment over time

ROI — return on investment — compresses any spend into one comparable number: how much came back for each unit put in. This calculator gives it in money and percent, for a product launch, an ad campaign, a machine, or a course.

How to use this calculator

  • Enter the total amount invested (all costs, not just the obvious one).
  • Enter the total amount returned or earned from it.
  • Press calculate to see the gain and the ROI percentage.

Include every cost or the number lies

ROI is only honest when the investment side carries everything: fees, tools, ads and the hours spent, valued at something. Campaigns that look like 300% returns at a glance often settle near break-even fully loaded, and knowing that before the next spend is the entire point of this calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ROI formula?
ROI = (amount returned − amount invested) divided by amount invested, times 100.
What is a good ROI?
Any positive ROI beats break-even, but the bar should be your alternatives and the risk involved. Low-risk returns set the floor; risky ventures must clear it comfortably.
Why does ROI ignore time?
In its simple form, yes, it does. 50% over a year and 50% over five years show identically here; pair ROI with the period, or use annualised measures, when time differs a lot.
